World's Largest - A Documentary About Small Towns with BIG THINGS

Desperate for tourism, hundreds of small towns across the U.S.A. claim the "world's largest" something from 15-foot fiberglass strawberries to 40-foot concrete pheasants. Odd, funny and sometimes beautiful, the statues stand as testaments to the uniqueness and importance - the largeness - that all people feel, and need to feel, about their communities and their own existence. World's Largest, a feature documentary, visits 58 such sites and profiles Soap Lake, Washington's four-year struggle to build the World's Largest Lava Lamp. By documenting these roadside attractions, World's Largest captures the changing landscape of small-town America.

Press Release

4.17, 2009

We are proud to announce that World's Largest received a grant from the Lucius & Eva Eastman Fund.

We are also happy to have Kartemquin Films as our Fiscal Sponsor.

After four years, we are off the road.

The past year has been a whirlwind, with shoots in 14 states. Highlights include: the 1st annual Pheasant Forecast in Huron South Dakota, where a live pheasant was released under the giant statue to predict the hunting season's success; the party for Albert the Bull's 40th Birthday in Audubon, Iowa (where Albert actually blew out his own candle!); and the sighting of White Cloud, the rare albino buffalo, under the World's Largest Buffalo in Jamestown, North Dakota.

In August 2007 we had our final shoot in Soap Lake, Washington. Check back for post-production updates soon.
