Donius and Amy Elliott, friends since childhood, have been collaborating on film and video projects for the past eight years.
In 1997 they completed Headless, a feature-length, 16mm, black and white film. Headless is the story of two young women and their complicated relationship with their hometown.
From 1998-2000, they produced eight segments for Split Screen, the television show hosted by John Pierson that aired nationally on The Independent Film Channel. Pieces included profiles of volcanologists in Hawaii, perfectionist Civil War reenactors, and taking cows to a drive-in to watch westerns.
Elliott also produced six additional segments for Split Screen, directed the half-hour season finale on the films of Jacob Young and served as videographer for numerous other producers. She was promoted to Executive Story Editor in the show's final season. As a professional freelance photographer, her work has appeared in countless publications, including The New York Times and The Washington Post. She is a graduate of Princeton University, where she won the award for best senior thesis in the visual arts department.
Donius is currently the Executive Director of the IFP/Chicago. She worked as the Communications Coordinator at P.O.V., the independent documentary showcase that airs on PBS, for the 2001 and 2002 seasons. She is the co-founder of moonhoney web design, which specializes in web services for non-profit organizations. From 1995 to 1997 she worked at HBO as an Executive Assistant. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago.
